Museum Pass Program FAQs
Sayreville residents who are eighteen (18) years of age or older with a current library card may check out one pass per household. Library card holders must be in good standing; fined, blocked or expired cards are not acceptable. Reciprocal/muni borrowers are not eligible to borrow museum passes.
Museum passes may be checked out for two (2) days. (Example: If you check a pass out on the 1st, it will be due back on the 3rd.) Passes may not be renewed. Passes are due back at the reference desk before closing on the due date.
No more than one (1) pass at a time may be checked out per household. Households are permitted one (1) usage per museum every thirty (30) days. Exceptions to this limit will not be available due to weather conditions, limited exhibit accessibility, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Museum passes may be reserved 2 months in advance (30 days for BBG) on a first-come, first-served basis at the Adult Reference Desk. (Example: September 1st pass reservations will be taken beginning July 1st.) “Last minute” requests will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis only when the reserved pass has not been checked-out on the requested pick-up date. In addition to a library card, patrons must present a valid photo ID that matches library records. All patrons must sign the Borrower Agreement at the time of checkout.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden pass provides admission for up to 2 adults and all children (under 17) as a timed-entry ticket. Please note: membership also gets library patrons 10% off in the gift shop and cafe. Please visit www.bbg.org for more information.
The Intrepid Museum pass provides admission for up to 2 adults and 2 children to the Intrepid Museum and the submarine Growler, with express line access. Additional admissions may be purchased. A SPL library card must be presented along with the pass to gain admission. Children under 3 are free. Please note: Pass does NOT provide access to member events, programs, or simulators. The museum passes are free to borrow (unless returned late or lost). The overdue fine for museum passes is $10.00 per day, up to the full replacement cost. If not returned within 14 days after the due date, the museum pass will be presumed lost and borrowers will be charged the full replacement cost. Replacement costs vary according to museum and are: Brooklyn Botanic Garden: $150, Intrepid Museum: $500.
Museum passes must be returned in person to the reference desk at least 15 minutes prior to closing and may not be returned in any book drop or at the circulation desk. A $10.00 penalty fee will be charged to the borrower’s account if a pass is returned in the book drop. The original borrower’s presence is required to complete the return paperwork – this may take a few minutes, please plan accordingly.
